On Jammie Thomas:
This is nothing. It’s not any different than what was happening before, it’s just changing hands. I think Jammie’s kids are what got her in trouble. I doubt she is smart enough to have done it herself, judging by her stupid decision not to settle. What the judge did to lower the award that the jury decided on was bad. The judge just arbitrarily decided that it was too much without basing the decision on any precedence or law.

Movie Links part 1

So here’s links that I found using my notes I made in 2004 based off of Film Making for Dummies, 1st ed. http://www.dummies.com/store/product/Filmmaking-For-Dummies-2nd-Edition.productCd-0470386940.html
www.writerscriptnetwork.com/
-free newsletter
-membership by application, and it takes $120 a year per script to post scripts if you’re a writer.
-It’s hard to tell if they charge producers anything to join or meet up with writers or actors, etc. because they don’t list the prices, and you have to join to get any more information.
http://www.wga.org/
-Big fat beurocrat union. Great if you want to play the man’s game.
-$20 to register with WGA, not the copyright office. Not a substitute.
-No online community or forum.
http://www.aftra.com/member_benefits.htm
-It’s a union. Not a club.
http://canimation.wordpress.com/
-It’s a personal animation writers’ blog. Move along folks, nothing to collab on here. Still interesting as a niche blog.
http://www.emmyonline.org/chapters.html
-List of the chapters of the Emmy’s.
-A bunch of regional contests and a job bank, but no online community. :<
http://filmindependent.org/content/member-benefits
-For indies. I don’t really care, because all the components are based in the real world.
http://www.iawtv.org/membership.shtml
-A webpage emptier than Google.
-Has a directory, but not much else.
http://www.igda.org/forum
-Bingo, right there in the main page- a link to a user forum. And it’s a biggie. Surprisingly enough, it doesn’t have frequent posting.
-$30 bucks a year to make posts and take advantage of other “benefits”
-Doesn’t really have a collaboration area.
http://www.scriptwritersnetwork.org/swn/index.php?page=writers-groups
-More flesh-world group meetings with critiques and stuff. No online program.
http://www.slamdance.com/writing/resources.html
-The motherlode of writing website links. Sweet gold, baby!
-Some great contests and a decent blog. No community. :(
http://casting.backstage.com/
-Good for finding actors or getting found.
-Probably costs monaaay. Primarily theatah oriented.
http://www.dv-forums.com/forums/
-barely updated forum. Has some useful threads for business advice, but no collab thread.
http://www.moviemaker.com/forums/
-Ugh. Yet another dead forum. No one posts, no one replies, and no one cares. Including me.
-Decent for news I guess.
